Title: Regoltu e Candelas_Cabidanni
(2013) PANGEA - Porto Tores, Italy
Curated by Maurizio Coccia
In collaboration with Social Centre Pangea.
The focus of the project was the analysis of a misused application of the principle of “green economy”, when purely profit-oriented. Particularly, the work started the analysis from the a massive power plant expected to be stoked with biomasses deriving from an intensive farming of thistles destined to be burnt in the plant.
The construction of the power plant has been authorized notwithstanding the well-known heavy environmental impact and the scarce job expectations.
The project was divided in two phases: Regoltu e Candelas_Cabidanni (2013) and Regoltu e Candelas_Triulas (2014).
For the first phase (Cabidanni) a sardonic torchlight procession took place in the city. During the walk citizens were given a candle realized from a silicone rubber mould made from an actual thistle plant. After the walk, a talk about the relations between art, job and environment took place.
